United States
While the U.S. economy remains strong, the distribution of wealth is increasingly skewed towards the top, while incomes in the middle and lower income groups remain flat. Since the late 1970s, growing productivity has not been matched by rising incomes for workers. While unemployment remains relatively low, in 2006, over five years into the economic recovery, unemployment rates were still higher than they were in 2000.
